2020 Summer Reading Kicks Off

While the Washington County Public Library is not hosting in-person programming for this year's Summer Reading Program, we are excited to offer a brand-new digital service through Beanstack! Register you and your readers and sign up for our Summer Reading Challenge. We have challenges for Pre-Readers (ages 0-4), Children (5-12), Teens (13-17) and Adults (18+). Challenges include logging your summer reading, fun activities, rewards and more!

Beanstack makes it easy to log reading time, keep track of your titles, and share reviews. Once you register, you'll have access to not only our Summer Reading 2020 Challenges, but all future reading challenges hosted by the Washington County Public Library.

For this year's Summer Reading Program, all activities included in our challenges can be completed safely at home or outdoors while maintaining social distancing. Some challenges will include links to videos, games, and other resources, while others may include a downloadable PDF that you can print out and do at home. Computers are currently available at all library branches except the Lafayette Library Branch by appointment only, you can call to schedule an appointment between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm on weekdays.

All readers of all ages who complete the challenge will be able to pick up a prize from their Library Branch. (Patrons of the Lafayette Library and Bookmobile will be able to pick up their prize at the Marietta Library.) In addition, younger readers will be automatically entered to win grand prizes, while adult and teen readers will earn two raffle tickets per every badge earned to digitally enter to win a Fire 7 Tablet or Amazon Echo Smart Speaker.

Patrons can also download the Beanstack Tracker Mobile App for easy logging, registration, notifications, and more!
